National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd (NTPC) and the Ministry of Railways have signed an agreement on November 06, 2007 for the formation of a Joint Venture Company namely “Bhartiya Rail Bijlee Company Ltd” for setting up a captive power plant of 1000 MW(4X250 MW) at Nabinagar, Bihar.

NTPC will contribute 74% of equity and the balance 26% equity shall be extended by Railways.
The Company will be a subsidiary of NTPC. 90% of the power from the plant will be supplied to Railways and 10% to others.
